Biblical counsel is done by redeemed people admonishing one another as a family in Christ. Enabled by the Holy Spirit, and armed with God’s word, they persist, sometimes even in tears, to help even the weakest toward mature spiritually. Our love for one another is too dear, and our love for God is too overwhelming, to substitute superficial remedies for the real joy and peace promised to us in our Savior.
Joy and peace come from God by the faith he implants when we are redeemed by Christ. This joy and peace abound toward hope. Then we must put our own spiritual maturity to work by encouraging other believers.
We need to show compassion and patience to help others grow in Christ. This is family behavior. This is what honors the God who saved us.
We need to set aside our own unimportant comforts, pastimes and traditions, to help with the needs of those struggling to grow in Christ around us. We should be patient examples of loving encouragement in the church.
We should be growing spiritually and becoming more and more conformed to the ways that honor our Creator and Savior. We need to dress in our work clothes and get busy with the spiritual work given to us by our Redeemer.
Love is a debt that cannot be paid off. When by God’s grace we are made able to love, and his when his word instructs us about what love is, we will enjoy making the payments.
When victims try to take justice into their own hands and take up vengeance aside from God-given authority, society descends into chaos rather than peace. We are told to overcome evil with good, and to live peaceably with all others when it is possible.
To be a healthy part of the body of Christ serving in this present world, we need to know the kinds of things God tells us are best to be the objects of our highest affections.
When you finish your prayer times, rest back and consider the certainty behind it all because God is All Mighty! The Kingdom is his. His is the ultimate power and glory. Then, really meaning it, think or say a good hearty, “Amen!”
